Monotype is a unique stamp made in counterpart. The painter works on a stone and then put the sheet of paper on the painting and press.Degas was very familiar with this technique.

 

Floris Jespers (1889-1965) is a belgian artist. After a rapid impressionnist period, he went to Paris to work with the cubists and german expressionnists of the school of Paris. Between 1920 and 1930, its works follow the flemish expressionnist ones. After a stay in Africa in 1950, he will paint typical scenes.

He developped a particular technique on glass, painting mainly clowns.

He is one of famous modern belgian painter.
